Baptism and Holy Communion will be observed at 5 P.M. this evening.
The Pre-Anniversary activity this evening is designated "Mrs. Barbara Tatum's Night," and immediately follows Holy Communion at 6 P.M. Mrs. Felicia Parks, First Lady of Pilgrim Baptist Church in Champaign, is the guest speaker. The Canaan Women's Choir will sing.
The 32nd Pastoral Anniversary honoring Rev. & Mrs. B.J. Tatum culminates next Sunday, November 8. This is our effort to say "Thank you" in a tangible way. For several weeks, the Anniversary Committee has emphasized the availability of Special "Sow-A-Seed" envelopes for those who desired to contribute increment amounts until their goal is reached. Everyone is asked to give their contribution next Sunday at the culmination of the Anniversary. "Let those who are taught the Word share all good things with the ones who teach them" (Galatians 6:6, NASB).
Rev. T. Ray McJunkins and the congregation of Union Baptist Church of Springfield, Illinois are our guests next Sunday at 5 P.M.
The 2009 Anniversary Theme and Scripture are, "CALLED AND COMMISSIONED BY GOD." "No one takes this honor upon himself; he must be called by God" (Hebrews 5:4, NIV).
All Canaanites are asked to get involved in ESP - Encourage, Serve & Participate in the Pastoral Anniversary activities.
What's the difference between being wise and being a fool? Young people ages 13-17 will find out from the Teen Ministry's new course of study, "Streetwise," as they explore the books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. The teen-agers meet each Wednesday at 7 P.M. in the Canaan Youth Building at 408 W. Main.
Accolades to our Children's Church Ministry, staff, and coordinators for sponsoring last night's "Hallelujah Night" at the University of Illinois Armory. We expanded our Annual Hallowed Eve Party to include several of our sister churches. Approximately 500 children were accommodated at this joint community event.
The Greeters Ministry meets Saturday, November 7, at 10:30 A.M.
If you are not currently a member of Canaan Credit Union, we invite you to join the many satisfied persons who are banking at God's House.
What makes Canaan Academy unique? Ordinary kids become Super Savers when they deposit money at their credit union! At an early age, students learn financial principles that involve the discipline of money management. They are taught to save, spend, and share when they have money, whether from gifts, allowances, or from performing small tasks for pay.
Pastor Tatum's enlightening and expository sermons are telecast each Sunday evening at 6 P.M. on UPTV, Channel 6.
THE URGENCY OF EVANGELISM. Statistics reveal that approximately 7,200 people die hourly. That is 172,800 daily, 1,209,600 weekly, and 63,072,000 yearly!! It is estimated that only about 10% of the world's population know the Lord. That means approximately 56 million people go to Hell EVERY YEAR!!
The heart of Canaan's ministry is Evangelism and Discipleship! If you have a burden for lost souls, we invite you to join the Soul Winning Action Team (S.W.A.T.) at 10:30 A.M. each Saturday.
The Health Ministry's First Place 4 Health Christ-centered weight-loss and healthy living program is each Saturday at 9:00 A.M.
